Gohan didn't know it was an illusion, all he knew was this woman had came in and attacked his friends and seemed to have killed Bulma. And for what? A round about lesson? He should have known better then to trust someone and give the benefit of the doubt of a person he couldn't even sense was a good person or not or wasn't crazy.

Grief soon turned to rage. He was going to kill her.

With a roar of rage, a bright golden light exploded into the room blinding everyone present as his power spiked not only because of the transformation but his emotional state. He was on Kurie in a instant, moving too fast for them to even track as he attacked her viciously from different angles, he was done playing

Kurie had expected this. It was why she had prepared a Master level spell before hand while she was talking. 'Dragonhide' took time to cast, but it's usefulness was undeniable. The fact that it completely negated a good 80% of all physical damage was incredibly important right now. Kurie knew damn well that if Gohan was going all out, she stood no chance. She knew a little about this 'Super Saiyan' transformation. Not a lot, but she'd learned of the power boost, and that was enough.

As it was, it was still painful to get kicked around like this. Not that she minded. Her point had gotten across, and she was getting her own punishment for her failure, in a roundabout way. It was win-win for her. As things progressed, she started casting quick-cast spells to ward herself from damage further, as well as heal what damage was already there. As 'Dragonhide' neared it's end, however, she knew she needed to end this soon.

Gohan was entirely focused on the fight but he wasn't going to drag it out more then needed, he was just going to end it and hopefully, by some miracle Vargus was still alive at least even if he had failed Bulma and her unborn child.

So when he slammed her on the ground this time to keep them in place, he began charging up his energy to finish them off as his aura flared again, but he made sure to condense it down. Z-fighters even the lower ones had very good Ki control which is why they didn't blow up the planet, or stars and above for the stronger ones.

'Well, at least he makes it a point to end things quickly I suppose.' Kurie sighed a bit. As much as she may wish to die, she wasn't going to leave Cassandra and Reizo like this. She slowly sat up, even as she gathered her magic for a spell. It wouldn't last long, but it would last just long enough. Before Gohan could use his charged energy, wave of magic erupted from her body. A wave of calm washed over everyone, pacifying them for the moment. Gohan would not be affected as greatly, but all it needed to do was calm his rage just enough, as Kurie dispelled the illusion. Gohan would suddenly hear the unmistakable sounds of a very angry Bulma, and see that she was perfectly fine.

Gohan blinked, the calm and Bulma's trademark irate tone snapping him out of his anger enough for him to stop with his attack. Not just Bulma, but Vargus were both fine. "Bulma..Vargus..you guys are okay?"

The older woman stopped what she was doing, confused as Gohan. "Of course I'm okay,l I should be asking you."

This worried Gohan, he hoped he wasn't losing his mind. He heard people in wars could see and hear things that weren't there due to some things triggering dramatic flash backs. He was hoping something along those lines wasn't happening to him. But part of him doubted it, it felt all too real so Kurie probably had something to do with it. "..What did you just do?"

Kurie forced herself to her feet, wincing slightly as the damage Gohan had done to her started to really get to her. "I subjected you to an illusion. I made you believe I had harmed your friends, in order to force you to stop holding back. And I don't mean holding back consciously. You have far more power within you than you realize, and you need to tap into that power if you wish to have any hope of succeeding against the androids." She started to limp over toward Gohan, as she sheathed her sword.

"I needed you to understand that, if you do not overcome these subconscious limits that you impose on yourself, that people you care for will die. I'm sorry for putting you through that, but... in all likelihood, the lives of Cassandra and Reizo, and your friends as well, depend on you living up to your potential, and helping them live up to theirs. I needed you to get the point, even if it makes you hate me now." She paused for a moment. "...Though I will not lie to you... part of it was selfish on my part. I wanted to be punished for my failure to protect Miki as well... and part of me wanted to let you kill me, though I know that doing so would have only hurt Cassandra and Reizo." She looked toward the ground, then continued on, moving to limp around Gohan, and out of the room, speaking as she went.

"Don't worry, I will stay out of your way if you wish it... and if you wish to take out your anger on me, then I am alright with that as well."

After the explanation and Kurie limping away, all of Gohan's anger faded within that moment. Instead it was something else mixed with a world weariness that was too much for someone so young. He moved over to Kurie. "There isn't any point in hating you or hurting you anymore. I don't like how you handled things, but you have a point. You can still stay here. I'm really sorry for hurting you that badly. Do you need to be looked at?" He was already concerned after being enraged at them merely moments ago and seemingly not holding onto an grudge; he really was too kind for his own good at times.

"We'll, geez. At least we know Gohan didn't start losing his mind. I was worried he was having some type of PTSD attack since he normally doesn't attack like that. If Gohan isn't still mad, I I'm not going to hold it against you." Bulma had been worried but she was glad it was due to something else. Don't get her wrong, she didn't like what Kurie had done but she could see the use of having them around. If nothing else, all the death and everything else had done a good job of changing her perspective of some things.

Kurie seemed surprised that Gohan was actually concerned with her well being. "...No, I'll be alright... nothing is broken, as I used magic to reinforce my body. I'll be okay... can someone show me to the room that I will be sharing with Cassandra and Reizo? I'd like to rest a bit before they finish eating. I know they will likely wake me up when they see I've been in a fight, so I'd like to get a bit of sleep before then..."

Gohan wasn't simply the type to hold a grudge, people like the androids of course being an exception to his more forgiving nature. He lead the young woman to the place where she would be sharing the room with the other two. "Here. Cassie and Reizo will come before too long. The next time you wake up, we can get to know each other on the right foot."

Kurie gave Gohan an odd look, before forcing herself to stand up straighter... and then bowed to the young man, wincing heavily as she did. "Thank you for being so understanding, Gohan. I know my methods upset you, but I truly believe it was something I needed to do. I do not usually resort to such methods, of that I can assure you."

Gohan rubbed the back of his head. "Uh..we'll I guess these aren't really normal times so I understand.."

Bulma's protective streak though strong didn't hold when Gohan was being Gohan. Here she was holding a grudge if she kept at it and Gohan was acting the more measured and mature one. She couldn't be out done by a kid, even with more or less her god son. "Tomorrow we can get to know each other for real. First impressions aren't always the way to go, espeically in this case."

Kurie simply nodded again. "Thank you. I'll go rest now..." She limped into the room, and once gone, Vargus glanced at Gohan.

"...She's right, you know."

Vargus nodded, kneeling down to place a large hand on the young man's shoulder, and look him right in the eye. "Gohan, you have more power than the rest of us combined currently, and that is with you severely handicapping yourself. That gap will close with time, but if you can't first learn to truly tap into the potential you have, then we will just be spinning our wheels against the androids." He lightly jabbed Gohan's chest with a finger, right over his heart.

"You have a big heart, kid. You go out of your way to help others, and you have a strong empathy and maturity when dealing with others. That's something I never want you to lose. But one thing has become clear to me from the few times I have seen you fight, seriously or otherwise. You don't have the heart of a warrior, not even close. It's not easy, but sometimes, you have to harden your heart. It's clear as day that you don't enjoy fighting. That's not a bad thing, but it bleeds into everything you do in a fight. You handicap yourself, in an effort to avoid hurting your opponent. Holding back against a weaker opponent is one thing, but you are taking it to a level where you are subconsciously limiting your own capabilities. Case in point, that fight with Kurie."

"If you had been giving it your all, without going Super Saiyan, she would have beaten you easily. During the entire beginning of that fight, she was clearly toying with you, needling you to figure you out. And when it became clear to her that you had this issue, she exploited that. She forced you to push past your own self-imposed limits through rage. Once you tapped into that anger, even before going Super Saiyan, it was a far more even match; she was fighting seriously. Do you understand the significance of that? Your anger allowed you to tap into your true fighting potential at your current level, and the difference was night and day. The difference, Gohan, between being able to protect those you love, and failing to do so."

"So what you need to do, Gohan... while you work to train everyone else, and your own body, you also need to train yourself mentally. You need to work to shed these mental hangups that cause you to limit yourself so heavily, without losing that good heart you have. The heart of a warrior is not cold or emotionless, as many think. It's warm, and passionate. A true warrior is one who puts every scrap of their being into protecting that which is most precious to them. You've told us stories of your father, your friends, your mentor. You saw for yourself that they didn't sacrifice their hearts for power, so you shouldn't fear that such a thing would happen to you." Vargus stood then, and ruffled Gohan's hair affectionately.

"Stop hiding behind your fears and insecurities. Dig deep, latch onto that power that you have inside, and drag it up to the surface. Only then, Gohan, will you be able to pave the way for all of us to take back our world. Goku and Piccolo left you with some pretty big shoes to fill, but I don't doubt for a damn second that they would have any doubt in your ability to do so."

Gohan waited until Vargus finished his speech, then gave a faint smile. "..Thanks. I needed that, I think. I'm going to lay down, if you need anything I'll be in my room." The young boy excused himself and left Vargus and Bulma alone.

"Y'know, you got a lot of wisdom in that head of yours. I know Gohan really needed something like that, and as amazing as I am in my own ways, there are some things I can't do." Bulma smiled softly. "So thank you Vargus. I think I need some tea or something after all that, did you want some?"

Vargus grinned lightly. "Always so modest. I'd expect nothing less of the great Bulma Briefs. I think I'll take you up on that offer."

Four years had passed and while nothing ufnourtnately came out of the android situation, as far as the interpersonal front went a great many things had occured. Dysis was born from May, along with Jessica and Tomoya with the three regularly hanging out together. Garnet wanted to keep herself busy so she'd look after them when the other adults were distracted.

Bulma had found a way to get rid of Vargus' Ki problem and thankfully he took to the training rather well. Both were weaker then Gohan in his Super Sayain state but otherwise were quite strong; Atsuko in particular seemed to have a bit abnormal growth rate. Sarah was decently strong by this point as expcted, but she had yet to hit the required trigger for her own Super form just yet.

As far as Reizo and Cassie were concerned,  while Gohan could help the young boy, he couldn't do as much with Cassie. Her energy, though in some aspects similar was too different.

It was a violate but versatile mix and Gohan didn't truly understand it, he could teach Cassie techniques but as far as power and control, she'd have to learn from Kurie and on her own. It wasn't fair for someone that young to carry that burden, but they needed that power to survive.

Yumemi was a regular around the children, she enjoyed spending time with them which made some people's lives a bit easier. Though speaking of, Bulma had a bit of a surprise and wanted to see the young woman's opinion which is why she went to seek them out. If she recalled, she was with Karin at the moment.

Yumemi was humming a soft tune to herself as she was currently brushing Karin's hair. The android had changed a good deal in four years. She was still herself, but she'd become more... free. She wasn't as bound by a need to 'serve', though that desire to be helpful was still as strong as ever. Her love of people in general made her quite popular among the refugees, though there were some who mistreated her because of what she was, mostly out of fear because of the androids that were still menacing the world. Yumemi was happy, however, and her bond with the children was stronger than most. Her usual check-ups with Bulma meant she was rather close to the young Trunks as well, though she seemed to spend equal amounts of time with all of the younger inhabitants of the shelter.

Bulma needed to check to see what Sarah's daughter Jessica was doing later along with Dysis, the son of the woman they rescued may. She personally thought it was the cutest thing ever the two were stuck to the hip, but if the two weren't just each other there was usually Trunks and Tomoya. It was an good thing many of the children hung around each other, in this world any sense of normalcy and the like was more then an good thing.

She knocked on the door gently on arriving. "Yumemi? Can I come in? It's me Bulma."

"Hm? Ah, of course Ms. Briefs!" Karin said nothing. She didn't speak at all, which was concerning to her mother, but Yumemi acted as if it were perfectly natural, having one-sided conversations with the young girl and communicating where she could.

Bulma came into the room, smiling warmly at Karin. "Morning Karin, Yumemi." While she was concerned about the young girl, there wasn't much for it besides just treating them like normal. "How have you been? I haven't gotten to talk to you as much the last few days..just been busy."

Bulma smiled a bit to that. "A lot of kids don't like vegetables at that age. I still don't like them but a girl has to eat healthy food.." She sombered a bit, looking at the young woman. "Yumemi, there is one thing I want to ask you, and you don't have to if you don't want to." She added, wanting to assure them. "But if you had another, stronger body I made for you, would you want to fight with Gohan and the others? You don't have to answer right away, if you need to think about it that's fine."

She of course already had one, it was all her labor and love poured into a single project these past four years. She was rather proud of it.

Yumemi paused a bit, before looking down at Karin, who simply looked back up at her. "...I don't wish to fight. I don't like the idea of hurting another person, even for 'sparring' as the others call it. But... I understand how dangerous things are. And I would like to have the ability to protect others if needed."

Bulma was only slightly surprised, but a slow weary smile formed. "That a girl. I wish no one of us really had to fight but we can't have everything. When you're ready, just come to my lab and we'll get things started and underway. I'm proud of you though, that's not an easy thing for you to do."

At the moment, though, she decided that was enough gloom and doom and she clapped her hands. "Anyway, enough of the down talk. Do you two want something to eat? May is making something in the kitchen, Dysis and Jessica probably stuck to the hip in the background."

Yumemi didn't need to eat, of course, but she could taste food and it did give her slight more energy not that she needed it. As for Karin, she didn't talk but she did give non verbal cues to things at least, some more subtle then others.
